Boy are the Galaxy Note 3 rumors coming fast and furious this week. We’ve heard rumors about the Galaxy Note 3 display being between 5.7 and 6.3 inches. We’ve also heard that Samsung will offer an AMOLED and LCD Galaxy Note 3. As we get closer and closer to the announcement in late August, the rumors will definitely pick up and get even crazier.

The latest rumor is coming out of Korea and says that we’ll be seeing a 5.99-inch flexible display on the Galaxy Note 3. It is set to enter production in August and launch in September. Which sounds about right. Since we are expecting an announcement around IFA, which is the last week of August and first week of September. But keep in mind that this is just a rumor at this point and we don’t have any way to confirm it just yet. So be sure to take it with a grain of salt.

MT Media is also suggesting a few reasons why Samsung is using a flexible display in the Galaxy Note 3. The said reasons are the poorer than expected Galaxy S4 sales and the threat from their Korean rival, LG and their Optimus G Pro. LG is also said to have their own flexible display smartphone in the works. Which we’ve heard it’s coming this year, and we’ve also heard that there’s no way its coming this year. So at this point, who knows.

In addition to LG, Samsung has HTC and Sony working on their own phablet entrants. In fact, Sony just announced their phablet this week. The Xperia Z Ultra with its 6.44-inch display. HTC is still rumored to be working on the HTC One Max (T6) which is said to be the HTC One, just bigger, much bigger. Both OEMs can really challenge Samsung in the phablet market. Leading Samsung to pull out all the stops.

Now assuming that these details are correct, it’ll be interesting to see how Samsung utilizes the flexible display on the Galaxy Note 3. Back at CES earlier this year we saw some unique concepts from Samsung with their Youm displays. Including seeing a display curve over the edge and show notifications on the side of the device. Now that was rather neat. What do you think about a flexible display on the Note 3? Is it something you’d want? Let us know in the comments below.
