1. Microsoft better not be playing around…

This week’s most clicked link was Microsoft’s weird Windows 1.0 tease on social media (Engadget).

Well, the weird is getting weirder – and the emphasis is on 1985:

So what’s up?

  • Just some marketing fun, or a sync-up with Netflix and Stranger Things? Would Microsoft really do that just for advertising?
  • Most people suspect it’s something more.
  • The hottest tip is that Microsoft is going to go through and open-source Windows 1.0, the product first released in 1985, upping it onto Github which Microsoft also owns, by the way.
  • It’s… just a weird way of doing that, maybe?
  • Speculate all you want — I’m not sure how long Microsoft will keep stretching it out, or if we’ll find out more today.
