Xiaomi is working on a 48MP Android One phone: Is this a Mi A3 series device?

The Xiaomi Mi A3 series may have popped up online.

Xiaomi’s Mi A2 phones were decent entries in the Android One world, combining stock Android and budget price tags to good effect. The company isn’t stopping there either, as we’ve just spotted another Android One-toting Xiaomi device online.

The new Xiaomi phone was listed by the FCC with the model number M1906F9SH. But the listing also reveals the phone’s back panel, complete with a “48MP AI camera” label and Android One branding. Check out the image below.

It stands to reason that we’re looking at a Mi A3 series phone then. It’s also worth noting that there doesn’t seem to be a rear fingerprint scanner on the back cover, suggesting the sensor is either on the front or under the screen. XDA-Developers reported earlier this year that Xiaomi was working on two Android One phones with an in-display fingerprint sensor. So this could very well be one of these handsets.

The phone’s model number (M1906F9SH) also lines up well with a Xiaomi phone spotted on TENAA last month (model number M1906F9SC). The TENAA listing shows a phone that looks like the previously revealed Mi CC 9e or a rebranded version of it. Specs listed on TENAA also seem to match up to last month’s release.

Xiaomi’s Mi CC 9e serves up a Snapdragon 665 chipset, a 32MP selfie camera in a waterdrop notch, 4GB or 6GB of RAM, up to 128GB of storage, and a 4,000mAh battery. The phone also offers a triple rear shooter trio consisting of a 48MP rear camera, 8MP ultra-wide snapper, and 2MP depth sensor. And yes, the phone indeed sports an in-display fingerprint sensor along with a 6-inch 720p OLED screen.

In other words, if the new Xiaomi Android One phone is indeed based on the Mi CC 9e, then it looks like we’re in for a feature-packed experience. What would you like to see from the Xiaomi Mi A3 series? Give us your thoughts below!
