Fortnite Chapter 2: All the rumors and everything we know so far

Fortnite Chapter 2 black hole

It’s finally happened. Fortnite Season 10 has come to a close with a massive event ending in what could be the end of the world (map) as we know it. We’ll soon find out what exactly Fortnite Chapter 2 has in store for players, but until then here’s everything we know so far.

The world ending event

After a week’s delay, the Season 10 ending event kicked off on October 13 with the launch of the rocket. Like the event in Season 4, the rocket entered a rift and teleported around the sky for a few seconds. Then, several more rockets appeared in the sky and all of them entered into a single final rift.

Then, the rockets reappeared one by one and coalesced into a rift beneath the meteor suspended above Dusty Depot. The meteor itself entered the rift soon after, before six rockets and the meteor appeared above Loot Lake.

A singularity appeared to absorb the impact of the meteor, but it seems to have failed. The resulting explosion pushed players into the sky, then created a black hole that sucked literally everything into oblivion.

Afterwards, Fortnite disappeared. Not just the island, the entire game disappeared from the internet. All previous Twitter posts were removed and replaced with a single picture of the black hole. Instagram, Twitch, YouTube, and even the game’s official website also display the ominous black hole.

Even players in the lobby weren’t safe from the event. As seen in the video below, the singularity pulled in players from the lobby, as well as all elements of the user interface.

Since then, a series of numbers has appeared around the black hole, which fans have decoded into the following message: “I was not alone. Others are outside the loop. This was not calculated. The zero point is now inevitable.” What exactly this means has yet to be revealed, so stay tuned for more details!

Where we’re at now

As of writing, the only official information available is a live stream of the black hole itself on the game’s official YouTube and Twitch channels. It’s been streaming for more than 16 hours, but if anything happens, that will be the place to see it. You can watch the event below, and we’ll update this article as soon as something happens.

What is Fortnite Chapter 2?

The first hints of Fortnite Season 11 being a bigger change than simply a new season was a leak from the Italian App Store. In it, you can clearly see a new map behind the text “Fortnite Chapter 2” in Italian.

Now that the entire map has been destroyed and all previous Fortnite content destroyed, a Fortnite Chapter 2 is looking more likely than ever.

When will Fortnite Chapter 2 start?

It’s been more than 12 hours since the catastrophic event brought down Fortnite, and as of writing there has been no official news about the beginning of Season 11/Chapter 2.

However, a data miner uncovered a significant date on the Fortnite website that points to the next season kicking off as late as Tuesday morning.

It’s worth noting that previously data mined dates have proved incorrect, so take this date with a grain of salt. If the game is down for more than two days, it would be a massive loss of income for Epic Games’ hugely popular game.

Fortnite Chapter 2 map

With the entirety of the Fortnite Battle Royale map sucked into the singularity, Fortnite Chapter 2 could see the unveiling of a brand new map. More than 10 new points of interest have been discovered in the game’s code, which represents a much bigger change than previous seasons.

On top of that, boats can be seen in the App Store leak above, which could mean an additional water-bound vehicle added to the game. Stay tuned for more details on this front in the coming hours.
