How to set up Google Home devices as a single stereo speaker output

Google has finally released a feature Google Home owners have long been asking for. Users can now set up their original Google Home or Home Mini devices in pairs as a single stereo speaker output. Devices like the Home Max and the new Nest Mini already have this feature. Thanks to Android Police, we now see the featured is rolling out to Google’s older devices as well.

Once you get the update, setting this up is only a few taps away in the Google Home app. All you have to do is tap one of the speakers you want to pair, tap the settings icon on the top right of your screen, and scroll down until you see “Speaker pair.” Selecting this option will walk you through the setup process.

After you pick left and right channels, give the pair a name, and select what room the speakers are in, you are off to the races! The speakers will then show up as a single device across Chromecast compatible services like Spotify and in the Google Home app.

Music controls and volume appear to be in working order, and the device settings and Google Assistant act as if they are now working on one speaker. Devices can easily be unpaired as well within the Google Home app.

I, for one, have wanted this feature on the Google Home Minis for some time now. But what about you? Is this something you will find useful?
