The new Google Shopping is here, with price tracking, Google guarantees

Google Shopping is a handy way to find the best price for items from various stores, but the search giant has decided to give it a fresh coat of paint and a few handy tools.

The redesigned Google Shopping is now available across desktop and mobile in the US, bringing a personalized homepage with product suggestions as well as the ability to re-order common items. But there are a few other neat additions to the platform.

Price-tracking is one of the best features an online shopping website can have, so we’re glad to see Google Shopping implementing this tool. Users will receive a notification on their phone (and via email soon) to let them know when a desired product has received a discount.

Google also notes that you can buy products from retailers directly from the search giant, presumably like Amazon lets you buy products from other retailers on its platform.

“And every order is backed by a Google guarantee, which means you can rely on Google’s customer support and we’ll have your back for easy returns and refunds,” the search company noted in a press release.

Another major feature is the ability to filter for nearby products, allowing you to see whether any nearby physical retailers have the desired product. This could be handy for clothing, shoes, or anything else that you really want to get your hands on first.

Inspiration via Google Lens

Google Lens Style Ideas.The shopping-themed features don’t end there, as Google Lens has also gained Style Ideas functionality. As the name suggests, it gives style pointers for clothing items.

“So if you see a leopard print skirt you like on social media, take a screenshot and use Lens in Google Photos to see how other people have styled similar looks. See a winter coat that catches your eye in a store, but need some inspiration on how to rock it? Just open Lens and point your camera,” Google explains.

You can also point your phone camera at your old clothing items, and Google Lens will show you how other people have worn it (or similar items).
