Asus joins Android 10 party, pushes stable update to Zenfone 6

The Asus Zenfone 6 is one of the best affordable flagships of 2019, delivering powerful internals and that crowd-pleasing flip camera mechanism.

Fortunately, Asus didn’t forget about software support, as the device has just received Android 10 in the US and India (h/t: XDA-Developers). According to redditors, the update (17.1810.1910.63) weighs in at just over 800MB.

The changelog notes that the update brings Android 10, gesture navigation, and support for “Google Play system update” (presumably the Project Mainline initiative). We can also expect Smart Reply functionality, system-wide dark mode, and tweaked permissions.

We’re glad to see Asus supporting its flagship phone, as we thought it made for incredible value at $499. Our own David Imel praised the phone’s specs, build quality, and UI in his Asus Zenfone 6 review. It wasn’t all perfect though, as he criticized the display quality, lack of water resistance, and slow charging speeds.

“For $499, the Asus Zenfone 6 is an absolute steal. Many flagships costing $1,000 or more don’t offer the number of features found in the Zenfone 6,” David wrote in his review.
