Nexus 5 will Arrive Late October, 16GB/32GB, One Size battery

Image
Everyday another nexus 5 report comes out, especially as the end of October creeps closer.  It was rumored to be released the middle of October, so now we know that is not going to happen.  Then we were teased the other day with a brief appearance of the Nexus 5 listed in the  Google Play Store .  More  press renderings  were released giving us a better image of the Nexus 5.  There were rumors there may be two battery options, and now there is even a rumor a white version may be available…when will the rumors even end; apparently never until the Nexus 5 makes its actual appearance for sale. Today an insider for Android Authority, Tutto Android, is saying that the new Nexus 5 will indeed come with two sizes of internal memory, 16GB and 32GB – finally Google did away with the 8GB model.  There will only be the one battery size, most likely a 2300mAh, which is rather disappointing, although if optimized like the Moto X, the battery life may not be too bad.  As far as when the device wil

Nexus 5 to Be First With MEMS Camera, Faster Shutter Speed

The leaked logs from an errant Nexus 5 just seem to be the gift that keeps on giving. Now,  AndroidWorld.it   have uncovered more information on the device’s hardware. This time around, things are focused on the device’s camera. Which just so happens to be much more than  just  another 8MP sensor. When sifting through more and more logs, the enterprising Italians came across some information about the Nexus 5′s camera. Specifically the model number: “imx179″. Which, with a quick Google brings you to  this pdf . So, just what on earth is special about this MEMS camera module? Well, from a sensor point of view not much at all. You’re looking at an 8MP BSI sensor at 1/3.2″, which isn’t very impressive at all. Where DigitalOptics’ MEMS module comes into its own is through the use of micro-mechanics that drastically improves shutter speeds and reduces blur. It’s also designed to focus and refocus incredibly quickly before you hit the shutter button. Basically, this isn’t going to be the bes

Rumor: Nexus 5 Price Increase, Release Date is end of October?

Image
Another day, another rumor. This time it’s coming out of a source familiar with Google, which has told  TechRadar   that the much anticipated Nexus 5 is going to be announced and start shipping in the last week of October. The Nexus 5 will also be “half the price” of the iPhone 5s, which should make the Nexus 5 land around $446 US. Which is almost $100 more than the Nexus 4 was sold at. Of course that’s Euro’s to US dollar, so it could be a bit cheaper. This would put the Nexus 5 right in line with Google’s low-price, high-performance smartphone trend they have started with the Nexus line. The source was referring to UK shipping, which should mean we’ll see an international launch of the Nexus 5. Especially since we are already in October and it has yet to be announced. Then there’s the part about the rumor saying “match the iPhone 5s”, wait what? That leaves us wondering if Google is adding a fingerprint sensor, maybe 64GB of storage, maybe the same specs as the iPhone 5s? Who knows.

Nexus 5 Graphics Right on Par with the iPhone 5S and Xperia Z1

The Nexus 5 is LG and Google’s worst kept secret right now. We’ve seen a lot of leaks and rumors of the Nexus 5 which we expect Google to announce next month with Android 4.4 KitKat. The Nexus 5 was even left in a bar, whether it was intentional or not. We all have theories about that, but we’ll save those for another post. So far we know a lot about the Nexus 5, or at least we think we do. The Nexus 5 is stated to have a 4.96-inch 1080p display with a Snapdragon 800 processor. The Nexus 5 appeared on  GFXBench’s website , and the device scored pretty good on two game simulation tests. We didn’t yet have the on-screen results, but off-screen testing shows that the Nexus 5 is likely featuring the powerful Adreno 330 GPU. This also puts the device on par with the iPhone 5S at a score of 23. And it puts it above the Xperia Z1 at 21 and the LG G2 at 20. Which it’s pretty cool to see it surpass the LG G2, since that’s the device we believe the Nexus 5 is modelled after. The T-Rex 2.7 test i
