Today’s Google+ Announcement Have Something to Do With the Nexus 5

Image
We’re all wondering just when, oh when, is Google finally going to officially announce the new Nexus 5 and let us all hurry to the Play Store and let us buy one. Well, last night we got that little bit closer when a leak from WIND Mobile in Canada gave us another look at the Nexus 5 and gave us a cute little tagline. While that doesn’t seem like much to go on, when talking about today’s Google+ event scheduled for later on, stay with me. The tagline reads: Google Nexus 5. The smart, new phone made to capture the moments that matter. Vic Gundotra, the Senior Vice President of Engineering in charge of Google+, had this to say on  Google+  earlier on: Rehearsing for our Google+ update in the morning. I hope you can all join us and watch the live video stream! #momentsthatmatter There in lies the link, the fact that the Nexus 5 is being billed as the phone to capture moments that matter and Vic teasing today’s event will be all about moments that matter. Of course, this could all be conj

Rumor: Nexus 5 and Android 4.4, KitKat, Not Launching Until November

Image
The Nexus 5 has been rumored to be launching in October for a long time now and the KitKat Twitter account has been making all sorts of hints that it’s coming then but now, we’re hearing that the Nexus 5 and KitKat won’t be launching until next month. Of course, this is jut another rumor but, according to  Phones Review   the Nexus 5 and KitKat have been delayed and neither will be launching until next month. That doesn’t mean that Google won’t be going ahead with whatever press event they even planned to unveil the new Nexus and their latest version of the OS but, it does mean that the devices themselves won’t be shipping until a later date. How reliable is this rumor? Well, not very if we’re honest but, a delay is relatively likely. After all, that would explain why we’ve seen the device leak out so many times now, see it pass through the FCC and yet we’ve heard nothing from Google on the subject. In fact, the press event that they’re holding later on today is apparently going to foc

Google Sending out Invites for October 24 Event: Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 Release

Update : According to the source of this invite, Russell Holly, who is always spot on with his information, there will be no new hardware at this event. Google, quit playing games with my heart! Original article : Among a myriad of leaks and rumors and conspiracy theories, Google is finally sending out press invites to an October 24 event inviting everyone to join them for a “night out with Google Play.” That’s right, just six days from now, Google will be unveiling the latest and greatest products they’ve been cooking up in Mountain View. The invite is rather bland, and doesn’t mention anything about Android, KitKat or the Nexus 5, but it’s hard to imagine Google throwing an event right now without announcing everything you need to know on the update and handset. We might even get some Nexus 10, Google Watch and Android TV news if we’re lucky. The event itself kicks off at 7PM EDT in New York City. Google has been known to stream their events through YouTube, we imagine this event w

SPIGEN Cases for Nexus 5 Listed on Amazon Hint at October Release Date

Google’s Nexus 5 isn’t exactly the best kept secret in the industry.  While we don’t know the official name yet, the 2013 followup to Google’s widely successful Nexus 4 is likely to be produced by LG, and it’s likely based on the G2’s spec list.  Like many things about the Nexus 5 though, this is just speculation and while we can speculate pretty accurately based on industry trends and previous Nexus devices, we ultimately have to wait for Google’s official announcement to confirm anything for sure.  This latest speculation comes from accessory manufacturer SPIGEN, who has apparently outed the Nexus 5 as Google’s next phone.  If SPIGEN sounds familiar that’s because they outed the Galaxy Note 3’s announcement a week ahead of time, and were dead on accurate with the date too.  While that wasn’t a surprise date given all the speculation surrounding the Note 3, it gives us a good idea of just how accurate SPIGEN’s product release date’s coincide with phones their cases protect.  Amazon ha
