ChromeCast, that new piece of tech Google just introduced and everyone is talking about, that little HDMI dongle that sold out in the Play Store in a matter of minutes and is sold out in Amazon and Best Buy as well. In a few days, a lot of people is going to be using this, streaming YouTube videos, movies from Netflix and Google Play, music from Google Play Music and showing pictures from their Chrome tabs to friends without even thinking about it, one click and it’s done. For users, it’s a little piece of heaven, is that missing link we’ve been waiting for such a long time, one where we can not only stream movies and music, but where our devices our independent from that stream and it doesn’t even matter which device we’re using, Android, iOS, PC, Mac, anything goes. As some of you may know, Samsung’s Eynos processor that is showing up in all of its mobile devices was dubbed an “octa” processor. That title is incredibly misleading as it leads people to believe the the processor is actually an octa-core processor, meaning that it has 8 cores working together. In reality, the processor is just two quad-core processors together running different processes on the device. The reason this is not a true octa-core processor is because only 4 cores can be running at one time, resulting in significantly poorer performance. Well now, Samsung is set to release a legitimate octa-core processor that will be able to run all 8 cores at the same time. We’ve already heard whispers of Samsung’s newest processors and if the rumors are true, these cores running simultaneously should not affect battery life in any dramatic way. Wead is a Windows Phone 8 app that lets you insert local weather information on to your photos. The app acts more like a plug-in, accessible through the edit menu when you view individual photos in the Pictures Hub. Weave was updated today to version 2.0 and brings a new user interface and a sharing option to the table. The new user interface calls for you to enter your location then retrieve the current weather conditions. From there you choose your temperature units, font style and color then set your text position with the slider controls.

We know that Bluetooth 4.0 with low-energy support is coming to Windows Phone 8 sooner than later. Nokia has reportedly been hard at work getting their devices ready and we wouldn’t be shocked to see it come officially from Microsoft in GDR3 , expected later this year. In documents posted to the FCC on the upcoming Samsung ATIV S Neo , due on Sprint on August 16th , it’s revealed that the device has evidently been cleared with Bluetooth LE on board, meaning 4.0 status. That’s good news for those on Sprint waiting for a high end Windows Phone to carry them into 2014, as BT4.0 will ensure greater device capability, better battery usage and open new avenues for accessories.
