Nokia pushing the Lumia 925 with magazine ads and a new video

Image
The Nokia Lumia 925 is set to become T-Mobile’s flagship Windows Phone 8 device very soon. In fact, all signs point to July 17 as the device’s American release date. That’s great news for T-Mobile customers who require a little more hardware power than the value-priced Lumia 521 can provide. Nokia and T-Mobile know just how much potential the Lumia 925 has to be a hit on this side of the ocean, and so they’re engaging in an advertising blitz in several popular magazines. We’ve spotted a two-page spread in the latest Rolling Stone as well as two separate advertisements in the July issue of Wired (one shown above). To top it off, the QR code in the Rolling Stone ad leads to Nokia’s web portal for the Lumia 925. T-Mobile customers will want to head there and sign up to be notified by email when the phone shows up in stores. The page also features a number of new images and at least one new video that shows off the 925 camera’s low light abilities. Check the video and print ads ou

T-Mobile Continues its Rapid LTE Rollout with $308 Million Deal with US Cellular

Image
T-Mobile was the last carrier to start rolling out LTE. But that doesn’t mean they’ll be last to cover their 3G footprint. T-Mobile is planning to have 200 million people covered by the end of the year. That’s a good chunk of the US. They’ve already launched LTE in a handful of markets and about 20 more coming between now and July. So T-Mobile is making some waves with LTE, even faster than Sprint who had almost a year jump on T-Mobile. On Friday, T-Mobile released a statement that they are purchasing about 10MHz of AWS spectrum from regional carrier US Cellular. US Cellular will be getting about $308 million out of the deal. Of course, it’s still pending FCC approval, as normal. But that 10MHz of spectrum will be T-Mobile soon enough. This is especially good for T-Mobile customers, especially in the Southeast. According to the press release, the spectrum will cover about 32 million people in cities including Memphis, Little Rock, New Orleans and St. Louis. Good job T-Mobile. Many peo

Talk Mobile Apps Week Recap: The best things you said

Image
While the first week of Talk Mobile 2013 was all about mobile gaming , in the second topic we tackled broader issues with apps, developers, and app stores. As with last week, we're working to move past the debates over features and specs and spark a discussion on what really matters: how these advanced devices have actually impacted our lives. We're going to continue to tweak the Talk Mobile formula as we go, and your feedback is always welcome as we work to make Talk Mobile the best that it can possibly be. So feel free to sound off in the comments about what you think of Talk Mobile so far. As with our first week's recap, we want to focus on the discussion that was generated, because that's really what we're after here. We've seen a lot of great comments spurring even better conversations about what's great and not so great about apps today, and we'd like to take a few minutes to highlight the best. via Windows Phone Central - News - Forums - Review

Huawei: We want to work with Nokia, not fight for consumers

Image
Huawei wants to work with Microsoft and Nokia to "build love" for Windows Phone rather than battle against the manufacturer in a market that leaves little room for competitors to work alongside one another, according to a report over at Pocket-lint . Mind you, this is after we covered Huawei looking to purchase Nokia . Anything's possible, right? via Windows Phone Central - News - Forums - Reviews - Help for Windows Phone http://www.wpcentral.com/huawei-we-want-work-nokia-not-fight-consumers

Buzzkill: Yes, there’s a Lumia 825. No that’s not Windows Phone 8.1

Image
As Build enters its third and final day, there has been lots of circulating murmurs regarding Rudy Huyn ’s “Wall of Windows Phones” i.e. the technological monstrosity that you see above. In other words, we’re getting a lot of “tips” on the matter and we want to knock out any hope or speculation. The wall, based off of Rudy’s earlier trick of linking together many phones to display one large Bing/HERE map, has been around for some time now , but this time it has gone bigger thanks in part to Nokia who supplied the phones. Truth be told Nokia and Rudy were going to attempt a Guinness Book of World Records attempt, but due to the $30K fee you need to have them here, well, the idea was nixed. Let’s head onto the rumors and speculation for some buzzkill… via Windows Phone Central - News - Forums - Reviews - Help for Windows Phone http://www.wpcentral.com/buzzkill-yes-lumia-825-not-windows-phone-81

Android How to: Enable 4G LTE Connectivity on your Nexus 4

Image
One of the major disadvantages to the Nexus 4 was it not having LTE. But it did actually have LTE. In Android 4.2, and 4.2.1 LTE connectivity could be established very easily. But in Android 4.2.2, Google made it quite a bit harder for us to get too. Android is a hacking community, so of course we’ve got it working again. Today, we’ll take you through how exactly to do that. Since I’ve been asked quite a bit in the past 24-48 hours about enabling it on my Nexus 4 (since T-Mobile now has LTE in my area). Download and Flash CyanogenMod 10.1 or AOKP (you’ll need this to enable LTE) Once you’ve flashed your ROM and the Gapps, etc., you need to download an older radio for the Nexus 4. Either .33 or older Once you’ve downloaded your radio, you need to boot into recovery and flash it Now that you’ve flashed the older radio we are now ready to enable LTE. Go into your phone app and on the dialpad type *#*#4636#*#* Next you’ll be taken into the “testing” menu. Tap on “Phone Settings” Scroll

Galaxy Devices Get a New Paint Job, Purple is the New Black for S4, Mega 5.7 and Mega 6.3

Image
The infamous evleaks is at it again. Some new images have surfaced of the Galaxy S4, Galaxy Mega 5.7, and the Galaxy Mega 6.3 adorned with a pleasant purple finish. According to the leak, the devices won’t have anything new in terms of hardware or feature upgrades, expect for the paint job. Furthermore, there’s absolutely no mention of a price or availability. It’s likely they will be the same price as the base model since it’s just a different finish that sets them apart. As always, @evleaks released the related images via Twitter for everyone to ponder. Such a shame, seems like all of the good leaks are wasted on Twitter. It would be nice to see some of these leaked images exclusively cropping up on Google+ for once, but I digress. In case you weren’t following along the first time around, here’s the list of specs for all the devices mentioned above: Galaxy S4 5-inch Super AMOLED display 1.9GHz quad-core processor 2GB of installed RAM 13MP rear facing camera Galaxy Mega 6.3 6.3-in
