Apple Announces iPad Air With New Design, A7 CPU, M7 Coprocessor, And More

Image
Apple took the stage today here in San Francisco to announce the new iPad lineup that we’ve all be waiting for. The star of the show, of course, was the new iPad Air that features a thinner design, faster processor, and just about everything we’ve been expecting and more from the next generation iPad. The iPad Air serves as one of the best largertablets in the world for those who want a full screen experience. The updates to the tablet may  seem  a bit modest, but you can bet your butt that it will be the best-selling iPad Apple has produced. The new design of the iPadhas the world’s most popular tablet looking better than ever. The  iPad  Air ships with the expected 9.7 inch Retina display, but is a bit thinner (7.5mm) and lighter than its predecessor. The iPad Air only weighs one pound and Apple has shrunk the bezels of the tablet down by 47%! The iPad Air will also ship with the new A7 CPU,  M7 coprocessor, 5 megapixel iSight camera, Facetime HD front-facing camera, and more. Nexus 5 Shows Up on eBay for Pre-Order for $650

Image
You didn’t think we were done with Nexus 5  rumors  now did we? This one really isn’t a rumor, but it’s interesting to see the Nexus 5 pop up on eBay for pre-order. Well it’s not technically a pre-order since the device hasn’t been announced yet. Compared to other devices being marked up on eBay, it’s not too bad. Usually stuff are marked up to about $1000 or more. But since the Nexus 5 always comes in really cheap, around $300, a $650 markup is pretty heavy. That’s about double the price. What’s interesting is that this eBayer us listing this under “Buy it Now”. Which kinda makes me think that the person selling these Nexus 5′s will be able to get their hands on the Nexus 5 at launch. We all know how bad launch day is for buying the device. We remember last year when the Nexus 4 sold out in about 15 minutes and also crashed multiple times with many people getting charged for 2 or 3 or more Nexus 4′s. Pretty crazy right? As far as the specs go, here’s what the seller has listed: 8MP

Microsoft Already Testing Prototype Google Glass Type Headset

Image
Microsoft Glass – nay, it just doesn’t quite have the same ring as Google Glass, but if Microsoft has its way, people may soon be sporting a Microsoft/Nokia type Glass device.  According to the  Wall Street Journal  (WSJ), Microsoft has already been tapping some Asian suppliers for prototype components, and is already testing web-connecting eyewear, similar to Google’s Glass. Google’s Glass is well-known to even the generally public, not just the “Glassholes,” that own and are testing the Expedition Edition.  They are on the evening news and many articles have been written about Glass in the technical journals, WSJ, and other major publications.  Some of the news is fascinating and the excites the senses at the possibilities of what applications Glass can be applied, yet other reports paint Glass as an invasion of privacy and they have already been banned in several places.  Whatever your feelings are about wearable headgear and other devices, they are coming soon, probably sometime

Nokia Lumia 2520 officially official: Snapdragon 800-powered 10.1-inch Windows RT 8.1 tablet

Image
The long-time rumored  Nokia  Lumia  2520 has been officially announced. Just as expected, it’s a 10.1-inch Windows RT 8.1 tablet, powered by Qualcomm’s fast Snapdragon 800 quad-core chip clocked at 2.2GHz. That screen supports full HD resolution, in case you wonder, while the rest of the specs include a 6.7-megapixel camera with ZEISS optics on the back, 2-megapixel wide-angle front-facing camera, 8,000 mAh battery and 4G LTE connectivity support (in addition to Wi-Fi). Available this fall 2013 in red, cyan, white and black – the Lumia 2520 owners will be able to pair it with the Nokia Power Keyboard, a wrap-around cover that includes a full keyboard and gesture trackpad, while also providing five hours of extra battery life. Aside from the device itself, Nokia also prepared few app surprises. One of them is Dragons Adventure, which was built in partnership with DreamWorks Animation to “transform a family drive into an interactive gaming experience.” Inspired by “How to Train Your

Instagram coming to Windows Phone “in the coming weeks”

Image
Yeah, we knew this one’s coming but now we have it officially confirmed. Ladies and gentlemen, Instagram is heading to  Windows  Phone  and will be available from the Marketplace “in the coming weeks.” “Our ultimate goal is to bring Instagram to everyone who wants to use it,” said Kevin Systrom, CEO and co-founder, Instagram. “We’re looking forward to watching the  Windows  Phone  community use Instagram to capture and share beautiful moments in the coming weeks.” Now I would guess that some of the new Lumia phones will come with Instagram preloaded, and who knows, perhaps Nokia announces something like that by the end of the day. Meanwhile, we’re on the lookout for other news coming from what used to be the world’s biggest smartphone maker (and soon part of Microsoft). Stay tuned…

Nokia Lumia 1320 announced: Low-cost Windows Phone Phablet that WON’T come to the U.S.

Image
Aside from the all-powerful  Lumia 1520 , Nokia also announced a more affordable phablet, Lumia 1320. Unlike its bigger brother, this model doesn’t come with Qualcomm’s super-fast Snapdragon 800 quad-core chip; it’s “stuck” to dual-core Snapdragon 400 and just 1GB of RAM. Moreover, the 1320 has a 6-inch 720p HD screen, rather than full HD one the Lumia 1520 rocks. Plus, its 5-megapixel camera can hardly compete with Lumia 1520′s PureView 20MP monster-shooter. Still, we’re talking about a rather decent device made for folks who: a) don’t mind carrying huge devices around; b) like Windows Phone, and c) don’t want to spend a small fortune on a phablet purchase. The  Nokia  Lumia  1320 will cost just $339 before taxes and subsidies and should hit select markets in the first quarter of next year. And by select, we mean China and Vietnam, followed by other Asian markets, India and Europe. Users will get to choose between few color variants, including orange, yellow, white and black.

AT&T HTC One Max Image is Leaked

Image
The HTC One max has already been confirmed for Sprint and Verizon following its debut in the U.K. this month, but it appears the super-sized smartphone is also headed to AT&T. A press render that clearly shows the handset’s AT&T branding has been published online ahead of its official debut. The image comes from the ever reliable @Evleaks, and although it isn’t accompanied by a release date, it should certainly appear before the end of the year. The date on the handset’s display is Friday, November 1, so it will be well worth watching out for news then. As you can see from the image above, the device has an AT&T logo on its front between its back and home buttons — where an HTC logo usually sits — as well as AT&T branding in its status bar. We don’t have a picture of the back of the device, but you can be sure AT&T has slapped another logo there, too. The HTC One max is expected to cost between $200 and $300 on contract in the U.S. The device boasts a 5.9-inch 108
