Nexus 6P can also be purchased via Huawei’s online store

Image
While the Google Nexus 6 was offered directly through all major US carriers, the Nexus 6P has opted out of the carrier race in the US. Instead, the main source for buying the Nexus 6P is directly from the Google Store.  Those who want to buy elsewhere, however, will have the option of getting it directly from Huawei’s online store. See also: Nexus 6P officially announced: everything you need to know 61 As you’d imagine, the pricing is the same through Huawei as it is through Google, but there are a few things to note before deciding whether to turn to Huawei over Google for the purchase. First, Huawei isn’t offering the 128GB model or the white model in any storage configuration. You also don’t get Nexus Protect  as an option, and only standard shipping (5 to 7 days) is available. Also worth noting, Huawei doesn’t seem to offer up the Google Play gift card or music benefits you get when buying from the Google Store. Nexus 6P vs Nexus 6 - Quick ... Nexus 6P First Look

Nexus 5X up for pre-order in UK from £299

Image
Has the Nexus 5X  struck your fancy? If so, Google and a number of UK retailers now let you pre-order the volcano-adorned device. The Nexus 5X is up in the Google Store , starting from £339 for the 16GB version in black, white, and ice blue. The estimated shipping date is “2-3 weeks.” Meanwhile, the 32GB model (which we recommend given the lack of expandable storage) will set you back £379. It looks like Brits have it better than their counterparts across the Channel, who have to pay significantly more for the privilege of owning a new Nexus. It looks like retailer Carphone Warehouse is undercutting Google in terms of pricing, by offering the Nexus 5X for just £299.99 for the 16GB model or £349.99 for the 32GB model . The retailer also offers a free Chromecast Audio for every Nexus 5X pre-order, a £30 value. The free delivery is expected from October 19. If you want to shop from Clove for some reason, the retailer has the Nexus 5X 32GB in black or white for £379 , VAT included.

Chainfire handing over ownership of SuperSU to new company

Image
Chainfire is easily one of the most iconic developers in the Android modding world, known particularly for his expert work on SuperSU . If you’re a regular rooter/ROMer you have no doubt utilized one or more of Chainfire’s tools over the years. We owe a lot to his efforts, but now he’s now getting ready to hand over the reins to SuperSU after a long and successful run. Chainfire has been maintaining SuperSU by himself since 2012, but is now transferring ownership to Coding Code Mobile Technology LLC (CCMT). Chainfire will continue to remain with the project for the next two years, though after that will be walking away from involvement. At least for now, that means more developers and additional funding should push SuperSU forward, allowing it to more quickly add features, bug fixes, and more. Who is CCMT though? While the company is newly formed, Chainfire says in a G+ post that “the people at CCMT are no strangers to the root community. They have invested in, or own, a number of

The most expensive Android Wear watch yet is coming on November 9 from Tag Heuer

Image
The Tag Heuer smartwatch could look like this traditional Carrera 1887 model. Android Wear is going up scale. Tag Heuer’s first smartwatch is officially launching November 9 with an $1800 price tag. We first heard reports about Tag Heuer joining the Android Wear ecosystem back in March , when the Swiss watchmaker confirmed it would release a smartwatch in partnership with Google and Intel by November. Yesterday, Tag Heuer CEO Jean-Claude Biver announced the precise date of the launch, along with an updated price tag. Biver said in March that the device would cost $1,400, but the price is now said to be $1,800, and, apparently, we have Apple to thank for it, at least in part. In a CNBC interview , Biver declared himself “very, very pleased” with the Apple-Hermes tie-up for the Apple Watch, which allows Tag Heuer to sell its own luxury connected watch at $1500 or more. We now have a launch date and a price tag, but other details about the Tag Heuer Android Wear device are hard t

Googlers share impressive 240-fps slow-mo video and photos shot with Nexus 6P

The new Nexuses check a lot of the right marks , including an attractive design, a fast fingerprint sensor, and a friendly price tag (well, not so much in Europe or India ). But the feature that’s got us really excited is the camera shared between the Nexus 5X and 6P , featuring a 12.3 MP sensor with large 1.55-micron pixels and laser-assisted autofocus. We already knew that the Nexus 6P camera does a great job in real world testing, thanks to the experts at DxOMark, who ranked the Huawei-made smartphone on the second place in their top of the best smartphone cameras . DxOMark praised the “impressive detail preservation in low light conditions,” calling the Nexus 6P the best device it ever tested in this regard. But how about some real samples of the Nexus 6P in action? Googlers to the rescue. Former Android engineer Romain Guy , who is currently working on a different, undisclosed project at Google, shared a gallery of shots he took with the Nexus 6P.

The Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P certainly look great, but let’s face it, the price of the new devices will play a huge role in their reception. We already learned about Google’s curious pricing decisions in Europe , and now we have a solid idea of the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P prices in India. Google hasn’t officially announced any availability details for the Nexus 5X and 6P in India, but we did get the price details for the two devices. Specifically, the Nexus 5X 16GB (which starts from $379 in the US) will cost Rs. 31,900 in India (about $485). The 32GB version will cost Rs. 35,999 ($550). OnePlus’ Carl Pei wants to intern at Samsung

Lifehacker OnePlus is a profoundly fascinating company to say the least. Despite last year’s stellar debut into the smartphone arena, the c ultimately drew more attention not for the OnePlus One hardware itself, but the inability to make it available. Rather than go with a more traditional method of purchase such as letting customers simply  buy the product, an awkward invite system was employed along with misogynistic marketing stints. The end result was that outside of China – where the phone was freely available – interested customers had to wait to get arguably one of the best phones of 2014. 2015 saw no shortage of PR hubris , with the company’s follow-up, the OnePlus 2  being toted as a “ 2016 flagship killer ” and essentially promising the world. Unfortunately the product has received a surprising backlash due to its lack of NFC, lack of Fast Charging, problematic camera software, buggy Oxygen OS, and – once again – availability. Whereas some companies have been known to
