Check out the Galaxy S7 filming 240fps slow motion video

Image
One of the new features packed into Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S7 is a new rear camera unit and it seems that the new sensor also works pretty well for slow motion video capture, as the video above from  EuroTech attests to. The five minute video was captured at 720p and 240fps, which has been slowed down to a more standard frame rate to create a slow motion effect.   Impressively, the video was captured without the use of a tripod and still manages to look very steady. The Galaxy S7 camera’s optical image stabilization certainly looks like it works pretty well. Colors pop nicely, the image brightness holds up well and everything appears nice and crisp, which isn’t always the case when capturing video at very fast frame rates. The Samsung Galaxy S7 is capable of recording video at various quality levels and frame rates. 4K UHD capture is possible at 30fps, 1080p at up to 60fps, and there is a 720p optios which can be toggled to 240fps for smooth slow motion playback. HTC Vive international pricing set 25% higher than US at €899

Image
As much as you want to root for HTC, especially when it comes to its outstanding Vive VR headset, the company just seems intent on shooting itself in the foot. The HTC Vive price of $799 in the US is entirely reasonable, but the international pricing for the VR contraption is kind of ludicrous. Euro-zone countries will have to cough up a massive € 899 for the headset, almost 25% more than their American counterparts. MORE VR VIDEOS: HTC Vive Pre Reactions Oculus Touch Demo Reaction a... New Samsung Gear VR Reaction... HTC Vive Demo Reaction HTC posted the international price list on its Vive blog, with China the least lucky, forking out the equivalent of $1,050 while Taiwan’s price equates to only $850. Japan is slightly better off than China, paying the equivalent of $990. Euro-zone countries will pay what converts to $980 and the United Kingdom will pay slightly less, rounding out to $955. LG G5 vs Samsung Galaxy Note 5

Image
The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 served as a significant design departure for the Galaxy line, with the “phablet” embracing less than flagship specs in favor of increased stylus functionality and camera quality. This year at MWC , LG has released the polarizing G5 , which boasts a modular capability that allows users to swap out not only batteries but also take advantage of unique hardware features like an advanced camera module or improved speakers. Given that both of these devices have adopted an approach that favors adaptability over raw power, we thought it would be interesting to see how they stack up in spite of the generational divide. Design Design-wise, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 knocks the concept of “premium feel” out of the park. It continued the tradition of the Galaxy S flagships of 2015 by bringing a metal and glass construction to the table. The smartphone’s casing essentially two glass panels bound with a metallic frame. The LG G5, on the other hand, sports an entir

Report: Huawei, Vivo and Xiaomi to release phones using Samsung’s Dual Edge display

Image
Samsung’s Dual Edge AMOLED display not only makes the Galaxy S6 and S7 Edge look unbelievably sleek, but the company’s latest software also makes it rather useful too. Not surprising, Samsung’s competitors have taken note and a new report states that the company is selling its cutting edge display technology to some of its Chinese rivals. Huawei , Vivo , and Xiaomi are said to be releasing curved display smartphones in the near future. News sources from China report that Vivo is preparing to launch its XPlay5 handset on March 1 st , which will feature Samsung’s Dual Edge display. The phone is also said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and 6GB of RAM, so it’s clearly aimed at the very high-end of the market. A picture of the handset (below) was recently uploaded to Weibo and clearly shows off a curved display. However, the image was not uploaded by an official Vivo account or by a company representative, so we should treat it as unconfirmed. Industry insiders are als

Samsung’s celeb-packed Oscar commercial is funny and on-point

Image
Remember the star-studded selfie that Ellen DeGeneres took with the Galaxy Note 3 during the 2014 Oscars? The image garnered 225,000 retweets per minute, a record that stood until last night, when Leo DiCaprio finally got to take home a statuette, generating a whopping 440,000 tweets every 60 seconds. Samsung couldn’t top Ellen’s selfie moment at last night’s Academy Awards, but the 90-second commercial it aired during the show may be the next best thing. The clip features cameos from Lil Wayne, Wesley Snipes, Doc Rivers, James Harden, and William H. Macy, the last of whom gets to realize his spokesperson fantasy via virtual reality. The commercial manages to be genuinely funny and just a tad weird, mostly in a good way. At the same time, it does a great job of explaining the key selling points of the Galaxy S7/Edge, Gear S2, and Gear VR. No Snapdragon 820 powered LG G5 for Latin America, packs a Snapdragon 652 instead

Image
After paying less interest in bleeding edge performance with its G4 , the LG G5 marks the company’s return to the very highest performance segment of the mobile market, with the inclusion of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. However this now won’t be the case across the entire globe. Cristián Correa, LG’s sales manager for Chile, has stated that there will be a slightly different LG G5 model heading out to customers in the Latin American markets, which packs a Snapdragon 652 SoC instead. Consumers shouldn’t be too alarmed by the misleadingly large disparity that Qualcomm’s naming scheme hints at. The Snapdragon 652 is a big.LITTLE octa-core SoC that is built from four high performance Cortex-A72 cores and four more energy efficient Cortex-A53 cores, making it fairly comparable to last year’s high-end Snapdragon 810 chip. Consumers certainly shouldn’t have cause to complain about CPU performance, as there’s enough power here for your day to day tasks and more. The chip also reta

64-bit Raspberry Pi 3 launched and available

Image
It was four years ago that the Raspberry Pi foundation launched the original 256 MB Raspberry Pi Model B. In the intervening years the foundation, led by Eben Upton, has released lots of interesting variants of the original concept, including the quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 based Raspberry Pi 2 and the $5 Raspberry Pi Zero . Now, Eben and gang have made the jump to 64-bits with the new Raspberry Pi 3. Maintaining the exact same  form factor as the Pi 2 (and Pi 1 Model B+), the new Raspberry Pi 3 uses a 1.2GHz 64-bit quad-core Cortex-A53 ARMv8 based CPU from Broadcom. That in itself is a huge (and welcome) leap, however there is more. For the first time the Pi 3 also includes built-in Wi-Fi and built-in Bluetooth. The exact same binary files for commands like ping, bash, tar, vi and grep run on all the Pi boards, from ARMv6 to ARMv8. The new processor from Broadcom is the BCM2837, which keeps the same basic architecture as its predecessors, the BCM2835 and the BCM2836, so all those pr
