Google reveals updated plans for its new public campus

Google has been toying with the idea of a campus update for a couple of years now, and has gone through quite a few iterations before it decides to officially start development. Expanding on the most recent plan to make this new campus a hotspot for the local community to come hang out, the company has just revealed its most recent vision which it thinks will create a positive space for everyone. October 10, 2016 The newest renders show a large canopy enveloping the perimeter of the campus, which Google says will have the ability to regulate climate, sound, and air quality. It plans to have a large amount of greenery within the space as well, with small parks and food trucks placed throughout the plaza to help those spending time there feel more comfortable. If you hadn’t heard, the Raspberry Pi is a tiny microcomputer roughly the size of a credit card. It was originally developed for education purposes, but has found its way into the arsenal of many a tinkerer due to its low cost and simplistic development abilities. At only $5 at launch, you could buy one of these things for about the cost of an expensive cup of coffee, which made it a no-brainer for those looking to create imaginative projects which only needed a simple computer to program to. Samsung bringing RCS messaging to its phones with Marshmallow and above

Samsung is broadening its RCS efforts following the acquisition of NewNet Communication Technologies last November . Its RCS messaging service, which is based on a solution from NewNet, will be available on its smartphones running Android Marshmallow or above from an unspecified date in the future. The South Korean manufacturer’s RCS service is said to be a “complete end-to-end solution” that includes “RCS-enabled devices, native/downloadable device clients, cloud-based RCS application servers, an interconnectivity hub among operators and a third-party monetization platform.” Samsung says it has partnered with a number of carriers to integrate the technology, including Deutsche Telekom, KT, SK Telecom, T-Mobile and Vodafone. The tech giant also claims its RCS solution also will be available as a full package or with modular options to allow carriers to personalize the service, should they wish to. SanDisk’s new 256GB A1 microSD card is perfect for Adoptable Storage

At MWC in Barcelona, SanDisk has expanded its line-up of A1 (App Performance Class 1) compatible microSD cards. The company announced the SanDisk Extreme 256 GB memory card that can manage random read input-output access per second (IOPS) of 1,500 and write IOPS of 500. This means that it is capable of opening apps quickly as well as processing accompanying tasks including audio, graphics, saved profiles, and in-app permissions. The new memory card offers transfer speeds of up to 100 MB/s, which is slightly faster when compared to the memory card the company announced at CES this year (95 MB/s). Google announced it shipped over 10 million Cardboard viewers and more

Google has made quite a few VR and AR related announcements today at Mobile World Congress . First, the company said that it has shipped more than 10 million Cardboard viewers worldwide since its launch in 2014. Combined, Cardboard apps have been downloaded 160 million times on Google Play, and 30 of these apps have more than one million downloads. Google also shared a few stats about the Daydream headset . On average, people are using it for about 40 minutes per day. The headset is currently compatible with six smartphones, and there are about 100 different Daydream apps available, with more coming soon . It looks like Daydream users particularly love video in VR, as it is the top category of entertainment on Daydream. Google Home confirmed for UK launch in Q2 2017

The Google Home connected speaker is going to make its way across the pond in the near future. Rick Osterloh, the head of Google’s hardware division, has confirmed the company will begin selling the speaker in the UK sometime in the second quarter of 2017. He added that Google had a “huge lead in artificial intelligence”. Every smartphone maker is trying its best to take battery technology to the next level, including Meizu. At Mobile World Congress , Meizu introduced the Super mCharge battery tech that can fully charge your smartphone in just 20 minutes. The company demonstrated this on a smartphone with a 3,000 mAh battery. The battery got up to 30 percent in five minutes, 60 percent in ten minutes, 85 percent in 15 minutes, and was fully charged in 20 minutes. Meizu claims that Super mCharge is safer and more secure when compared to its rivals and has a charging power of 55W, which is delivered through a redesigned data cable that can support up to 160W.
