Android Pay launches in Canada today with 8 banks, more coming soon

  After rolling out in the US back in September of 2015, Android Pay has now officially launched in Canada. Google made the announcement earlier today, outlining the initial banks that would support its mobile payments service. See also: PayPal’s latest update lets it play nice with Android Pay 1 week ago Android Pay will be available for ATB Financial, Banque Nationale, BMO, Canadian Tire Financial Services, CIBC, Desjardins, President’s Choice Financial, and Scotiabank. As in the US, Google is expected to roll out the Android Pay to more banks in future. The digital wallet works with Canadian Visa and MasterCard credit and debit cards, as well as Interac debit cards from approved organizations. Google also confirmed that support for American Express and Tangerine cards would follow soon. Paranoid Android 2017 is here with support for Pixel, Nexus, and OnePlus devices

Paranoid Android teased an update  about a month ago with a somewhat cryptic message. Project lead Arz Bhatia later clarified the situation, essentially stating that a new version of the ROM would only come when the time was right. That time, it seems, is now, as Paranoid Android has today revealed its 2017 ROM. Paranoid Android 2017 builds on its predecessors with some brand new features and support for recent devices. The ROM once again includes the unique Pie UI element, which holds shortcut controls at the bottom of the display, but what exactly is new in this latest build we’ll have to wait and see. Samsung Gear VR owners can share what they see on a big screen TV via Chromecast

Now, Samsung Gear VR owners will have the option to show others what they are experiencing. Oculus has revealed that the Gear VR headset can now mirror its display on a big-screen TV via  Chromecast support. Also read: Best gamepads for Gear VR and Google Cardboard Oculus, which provides the software technology behind the Gear VR, says Chromecast support is included with the latest update of its Oculus mobile app on Android. After it is installed, users who own a Cast-enabled device can use the app to mirror the display on the big display. Oculus hopes this will offer Gear VR owners a way to show others what they are experiencing, without them having to wear the headset itself. T-Mobile’s Digits service is coming to the US next week (Update: available now)

Update (5/31):  The Uncarrier has just announced that all current T-Mobile numbers will be upgraded to Digits starting today. You can also now add additional lines to the Digits program for $10. However, T-Mobile One Plus customers will be able to score an extra Digit line at no extra cost for a limited time. Waze’s Carpool service to expand throughout California on June 6

Google is expanding the reach of its Waze Carpool service beyond the pilot stage. The company has confirmed that the service will become available throughout the state of California for drivers and riders starting on Tuesday, June 6. Google first launched a pilot program for Waze Carpool in the San Francisco Bay Area in May 2016 . See also: You can now record your own voice for Waze navigation 3 weeks ago According to  Los Angeles Times , Google will not take a commission from Waze Carpool drivers in California, at least at first. Instead, riders will simply pay those drivers for the cost of their gas. In the future, a commission fee will be put in for each ride, but only after Google feels the service is up to its standards. Because there is no commission fee for now, Waze Carpool drivers will not need to pay for commercial car insurance, nor will they need any background checks. That makes this service different than other popular ride-sharing services like  Uber and

Pokéland, yet another new Pokémon app, is coming to Android

The legion of Pokémon fans have yet another new mobile app to look forward to playing in the near future. The Pokémon Company has just announced Pokéland in its home country of Japan. It’s currently running a limited alpha test for Android owners until June 9. See also: Pokémon Go still has 65 million players, new co-op features are coming soon April 8, 2017 Pokéland is similar to the older Nintendo Wii console game Pokémon Rumble. Players control Pocket Creatures as they battle each other on a number of islands. The Android alpha has 134 Pocket Monsters to choose from, along with six islands and 52 stages. At the moment, there’s no word on when the game will officially launch. There’s also no information on if it will be made available outside of Japan, but we would bet that it will be launched in other parts of the world because, well, it’s a Pokémon game. OnePlus 3 and 3T will get Android O, but are OnePlus 2 owners forgotten?

As we get closer to the release of Android O , the head of OnePlus claims its two current smartphones, the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T , will be updated to Google’s next major Android release.
