The follow-up to Xiaomi’s record-breaking Redmi Note 4 has been spotted in the wild. The leaked photo (below) first appeared on Weibo and shows off the Redmi Note 5’s fresh new 18:9 display as well as a whole bunch of key specs. The biggest step-up we can see from the Redmi Note 4, from a design perspective at least, is the near bezel-less display. After bringing the bezel-less form factor to the fore with the Mi MIX range, it’s not a huge surprise to see the Chinese OEM following suit for its mid-tier phones. A recent TENAA listing suggests we’re looking at a 5.99-inch screen with a resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 pixels. That’s not all we can glean from the photo, however, as the taker was nice enough to take a shot of the phone’s specification settings screen. One of the OnePlus 5T ‘s more nifty features is its Face Unlock, which lets you bypass the lock screen by just pointing the phone at your mug and pressing the power button. Thankfully for OnePlus 5 owners, the latest Android 8.0 Oreo beta looks to include the feature for their devices as well. Based on the screenshot below, OnePlus 5’s Face Unlock looks to behave in the same was as the OnePlus 5T’s implementation — you can either add face data during setup or within settings if you choose to add the data later. Once Face Unlock is enabled, you can choose to unlock the OnePlus 5 with your face as soon as the screen turns on without swiping first. One of the knocks against Face Unlock is that it is unreliable in low-light scenarios — there is no special hardware at work, since it relies entirely on software.
