Essential , Sharp , and Apple all have something in common. They were the first companies to adopt the notch , carving out an extra sliver of screen real estate and popularizing  the design in current smartphones. Like it or not, the notch is here to stay. Companies like OnePlus already revealed it’ll offer a notch in its upcoming OnePlus 6 . The notch is a little like Marmite — you either love it or you hate it. I’ve used the iPhone X for a few months and can safely say I’m not the biggest fan of it. To my dismay, the Huawei P20 Pro also brings the notch, but you can turn it off. The phone’s display settings menu includes options for the notch. Here you can actually turn it off, disabling the extra pixels above the regular display and rounding the corners to make it look like a regular phone screen. NME To celebrate the release of Ready Player One, Google is offering a ton of discounts at the Google Play Store. Movies, books, and games related to Ready Player One in some way are getting large price cuts. Google doesn’t say how long the discounts will last, so it’d be smart to get on the price drops quickly. The latest film from blockbuster auteur Steven Spielberg, Ready Player One , hit theatres yesterday. To celebrate the release of the movie, Google is rolling out a ton of discounts on the Google Play Store that tie into the movie’s pop-culture references to 80s and 90s nostalgia. Update (3/30):  Verizon and Sprint are now rolling out the Oreo update to the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. The news arrives from  Droid-Life (via Phone Arena ) following tip-offs from several people, and from one of our own readers ( thanks Scott! ). The updates deliver Samsung’s Experience 9.0 UI with expected Oreo features like notifications dots, picture-in-picture mode, and adaptive icons. They also feature software version number N950USQU3CRC2, and come in at more than 1 GB in size like the recent AT&T update. Google keeps hinting that it is going to radically revamp its music service to better compete with Spotify, Pandora, and Apple Music .
