Huawei announced record pre-order sales of the Mate 20 Pro in Western Europe during the first 10 days after launch. The previous pre-order record holder in the region was the P20 Pro. Unfortunately, the Mate 20 Pro will not be officially sold in the U.S. With October proving to be the #phonepocalypse we predicted, Huawei announced that the Mate 20 Pro broke the company’s pre-order record in Western Europe that was previously held by the P20 Pro . According to Huawei, Mate 20 Pro pre-orders eclipsed P20 Pro pre-orders by 40 percent. Such a wide margin was achieved during the Mate 20 Pro’s first 10 days of pre-order sales. Huawei did not say exactly how many pre-orders it saw for its latest flagship smartphone, but you can bet that the company is happy with its seemingly increased presence in Western Europe. Google Google just announced the winners of the Material Design awards for 2018. Each winner earned its award in one of four categories: expression, innovation, experience, and adaptation. Winners include popular ride-hailing app Lyft and podcast-creation app Anchor. Each year, Google gives out awards to various Android apps which it feels exemplify the Google design language known as Material Design . The company teased the device as being a superphone with a bezel-less display and massive amounts of storage. However, the Lenovo Z5 turned out to have a big ol’ notch and a totally average amount of internal storage. Tomorrow, Lenovo will release the Lenovo Z5 Pro which looks to fulfill at least one of the broken promises of its predecessor: a nearly bezel-less display.
