If you’re a runner, odds are you’ve considered buying one of Garmin’s GPS running watches to track your activity. The company already has a wide variety of running watches for just about every budget, and today we’re getting  five more. The all-new Garmin Forerunner 45, 45S, 245, 245 Music, and 945 all feature the same five-button design, always-on displays, heart rate sensors, smartphone notification support, and new safety tracking features we first saw on the Verizon-exclusive Vivoactive 3 Music smartwatch. OnePlus 7: All the rumors in one place (Updated April 30)

OnePlus made a name for itself by creating smartphones with terrific specifications which sell for a fraction of the cost of other major flagships. The upcoming OnePlus 7 should continue that trend, but what will it look like? What are its specs? How much will it cost? When will we see it? Here’s what we know about the OnePlus 7 so far. OnePlus 7: Name and release date Give credit to OnePlus: its naming conventions remain dead simple. Every year since 2016, OnePlus has introduced a numbered phone followed by a “T” variant closer to the end of the year. Editor's Pick OnePlus in 2019: A force to be reckoned with While 2018 was a year of hardships for many smartphone manufacturers, OnePlus was an anomaly. Not only did it have great smartphone sales, but it also achieved more than a few major milestones — all … While the numbered phones are seen as true sequels, the T variants usually include slight iterations and tweaks to those sequels. Google says Pixel sales are down, blames ‘pressures’ in premium segment

The Google Pixel 3 series earned a gong in our Best of Android 2018 Awards thanks to its computational photography credentials. Unfortunately, it seems like a great camera and fast updates weren’t enough to boost sales. Google parent company Alphabet reported its Q1 2019 earnings results this week (h/t: 9to5Google ), and it noted lower year-on-year sales for the Pixel series. “Hardware results reflect lower year-on-year sales of Pixel, reflecting in part heavy promotional activity industry-wide, given some of the recent pressures in the premium smartphone market,” said Alphabet CFO Ruth Porat in the earnings call (skip to 7:51 ). It’s unclear whether the company is blaming reduced demand in the premium smartphone bracket, increased competition in this space, or both. Nevertheless, it’s clear that the Pixel 3 phones were less successful than the Pixel 2 series in the quarter after launch. Realme 3 Pro debuts in India, sells 170,000 units in 8 minutes

The Realme brand has done some fantastic numbers ever since it launched in India roughly a year ago. That trend looks to continue with the Realme 3 Pro , which made its debut in India and quickly sold out. According to Realme CEO Madhav Sheth, the latest model sold out its first shipment of 170,000 units in just eight minutes. Sheth added that additional stock was incoming and due to go on sale on the first day too, which suggests the final sales figure will be higher. Thank You Guys! We have achieved a new record with Rm3pro. We are restocking, next sale at 4pm today. pic.twitter.com/fNK993oQjj — Madhav Sheth (@MadhavSheth1) April 29, 2019 This figure falls short of the standard Realme 3 , which purportedly sold 210,000 units on its first day. It still makes for an impressive number though, as the Realme 3 Pro is the more expensive smartphone. Sheth also had news for owners of older Realme devices, giving out specific launch dates for the Android Pie beta. The CEO notes tha

I spent a week with a $17 KaiOS phone – here’s what I learnt

Image
Opinion post by Hadlee Simons KaiOS has quietly become a global powerhouse in the mobile industry, bridging the gap between feature phones and smartphones. The so-called smart feature platform is designed for phones with a physical keypad and more modest specs than even Android Go devices. It’s actually the second-most popular mobile phone platform in India, largely due to the success of the JioPhone range. KaiOS has also since made its way to the Nokia 8110 4G , prepaid feature phones in North America , and now Africa via Orange and MTN handsets. So how does a KaiOS phone hold up compared to an Android smartphone? I was given an MTN Smart S, which is a ~$17 KaiOS handset that’s just launched in Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, and several other African markets. I decided to use it as my primary communication device (i.e. WhatsApp ) for a week and some change. Here’s how it went. About the MTN Smart S Even for a KaiOS phone, the MTN Smart S core specs aren’t impressive on
