Galaxy Note 10 getting faster and more efficient 12GB RAM?

Image
Samsung Samsung has started mass production on 12Gb LPDDR5 mobile DRAM chips, the company has announced. In a post on its newsroom site earlier today, Samsung outlined what the chips would offer and when we could expect to see them in smartphones. Editor's Pick Samsung Galaxy Note 10 may face delays due to trade dispute WinFuture A trade dispute between Japan and South Korea threatens to hurt Samsung's Galaxy Note 10 production schedule, according to recent news from The Investor (via SamMobile). A Samsung representative purportedly told the outlet … Samsung’s 12Gb (Gigabit) LPDDR5 DRAM — the first of its kind for the industry — will be combined in groups of eight to produce 12GB (Gigabyte) LPDDR5 DRAM packages later this month. Samsung also says these 12GB modules are set to be used in high-end phones; given the timelines and intent, it seems likely one such DRAM package could power the upcoming Galaxy Note 10 . Supposed Galaxy Tab S6 renders show S-Pen groove, dual rear cameras

Image
Android Headlines All eyes are on Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10 launch on August 7, but it looks like the company might also be revealing a new premium tablet at the event. Android Headlines has posted renders that apparently show the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6, adding that the device is set to launch alongside the Galaxy Note 10 series. The renders show a tablet with several interesting design choices, starting with a groove on the rear of the device to hold an S-Pen . It’s unclear whether the stylus is Bluetooth-enabled and can be charged via this slot, or if we’re looking at a more traditional S-Pen that doesn’t need charging. For what it’s worth, SamMobile has previously reported that this slot will be for charging. Another interesting choice on this tablet is the decision to add a dual rear camera setup. There’s no solid information regarding camera specs, but it’s suggested that the second shooter could either be an ultra-wide snapper or a 3D ToF camera. The renders als

Netflix will finally offer a cheaper, mobile-only plan starting in India

Image
Today, in a letter to investors (via The Verge ), Netflix confirmed it will finally launch a less expensive streaming plan. The plan will be a Netflix mobile-only service that will start in India, with the possibility to expand to other countries later. Netflix has tested a mobile-first plan several times in several different countries. The plan allows you to watch as much Netflix content as you like, but only on one smartphone or tablet at a time, i.e. not on your television, not through a streaming device (such as a Roku ), and not on your PC or laptop. The company described the Netflix mobile-only plan as “an effective way to introduce a larger number of people in India to Netflix and to further expand our business in a market where Pay TV ARPU (average revenue per user) is low (below $5).” Editor's Pick Amazon Prime vs Netflix: Which is the better streaming platform for you? Although Netflix is arguably the original media streaming service, it is by no means alone

Firmware vs software: What’s the difference?

Image
If you’ve ever dabbled in custom ROMs or manually installing an Android OS update , you might have come across the term ‘firmware’. When flashing an OS update, the software has to be built for device-specific firmware or hardware. This difference is part of why it can take so long to roll out the latest version of Android to all devices. It’s not immediately clear, but there’s a critical distinction between firmware and software, the latter of which is probably a much more familiar term. In a nutshell, firmware sits very close to hardware, while software sits on top of the firmware. There’s a little more to it than that, and some areas where there’s room for a little cross-over. So let’s explore firmware vs software a little deeper. Firmware vs software Both firmware and software are snippets of code running on the hardware inside your phone and other gadgets. The key distinction is what they’re designed to do, where they are saved, and how easy they are to update and change. Sof
