Google may have finally realized that 4GB of RAM in a smartphone isn’t enough

Image
Google According to a new rumor stemming from “reliable inside sources” speaking with  BGR , the upcoming Google Pixel 4 and Google Pixel 4 XL will have more RAM than the Pixel 3 series. The Google Pixel 3 family of devices — including the two Pixel 3a devices — only have 4GB of RAM. Google has received quite a bit of flak for this, considering competitor devices at lower price points include 6GB or even 8GB of RAM. According to  BGR’s sources, both the Pixel 4 and 4 XL are expected to have 6GB of RAM. It’s possible the Pixel 4 XL will have more than 6GB of RAM, but it’s unlikely either device will have less than 6GB. Hopefully, this will help prevent memory management issues we’ve seen on the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Netflix’s shrinking times Netflix has problems: It is shrinking in the U.S. The TV streaming behemoth  reported its earnings yesterday  evening and the numbers were not good. Quick newsy numbers: Netflix added  2.7 million new subscribers in the second quarter of 2019 , but that was only half of the 5 million it expected to add. For the first time since 2011, when Netflix decided to split the DVD mail-order system and streaming platform (it still sends out DVDs to 2.7m Americans),  Netflix lost U.S. subscribers: 130,000 subscribers lost, in the last three months. Also, Netflix continued burning cash, it said it would continue its “free cash flow forecast for full-year 2019 of negative $3.5 billion.” That is to say, it’s losing cash, and lots of it. It’s not all bad : Netflix now has 151.5 million subscribers globally – and global growth is what the company is going for, annou

OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro update hub: Hotfix here for halted 9.5.9 rollout to 7 Pro

Image
Update, July 18, 2019 (10:20 AM ET): Ten days ago, OnePlus pushed out the OxygenOS 9.5.9 update to the OnePlus 7 Pro . However, it eventually discovered that the update caused issues with double-tap-to-wake for some users. As such, it halted the rollout entirely. This is why many OnePlus 7 Pro owners never saw the update to 9.5.9. Today, OnePlus is rolling out OxygenOS 9.5.10 , which is pretty much the same as 9.5.9 — even having the same changelog — but with some subtle tweaks that hopefully fix the double-tap-to-wake issue. Check out the official changelog below, which is exactly the same as it was for v9.5.9: System Improved touch sensitivity for greater performance Smoother visual effects Optimized haptic feedback for the keyboard Optimized the sensitivity of automatic brightness Optimized auto-switch of display resolution Optimized the speed and accuracy of GPS when the screen is turned off Adjusted haptic feedback of third-party app notifications Added Face Unlo
