Moto X Said to Use Nano-SIM Card Tray; Performance to be on Par with the Galaxy S4 and HTC One

The wait for the Moto X announcement has been killing us. We are getting closer but there’s still two more days left. Which means two more days of rumors and leaks. So let’s get this one started.


GSM Insider has obtained a few pictures of the Moto X with the Motorola Droid 3. Which appears to confirm that the device will be using a nano-SIM card. The Moto X is also taller than the Motorola Droid 3, which we’d expect since it is a bigger display, it’s also thinner. Which given the fact that the Droid 3 has a full QWERTY keyboard, that’s not surprising at all.

So it looks like the Moto X will be using a nano-SIM card which is smaller than a micro SIM card which we see in many today’s devices. Which means if you’re planning to pick up the Moto X you’ll need to either cut your SIM card or get a new one from your carrier. I believe the only devices that use a nano-SIM card are the new iPhones. But I’m not 100% certain on that one.

We’ve also seen from Taylor Wimberly on Google+ that the Moto X has been put into a comparison with the Droid Razr, iPhone 5 and Galaxy S4. Which you can see that picture above. From reading through the comments, Wimberly says that the Moto X will have performance on par with the Galaxy S4 and HTC One which is a lot of software optimization when you think about it. How can a dual-core Snapdragon S4 Pro compete with a quad-core Snapdragon 600? Well we know that Touchwiz is bogging down the Snapdragon 600, which is where the occasional lag came from on that device.


So there’s still a little bit to the Moto X that we don’t yet know. But we’re learning more every day and at this point there may be no surprises come Thursday. But we’ll see once Motorola let’s the cat out the bag, although they’ve kind of already done that.
