Firefox Browser: Now Shipping With Select Android Devices

On the Mozilla Blog today, they made the announcement that Firefox for Android will “bring an amazing web experience to users.”  They also pointed out that their Firefox browser will be included on the new Kobo Arc Tablets and the GIGABYTE GSmart Simba SX1 smartphone – could they get a longer name?
Karen Rudnitski, Senior Product Manager for Firefox for Android said:
We are pleased to partner with Kobo and GIGABYTE to offer Firefox as a pre-installed Web browser on Kobo Arc tablets and the GSmart Simba SX1 smartphone. Firefox is dedicated to offering users the best and most personal mobile browsing experience and we are happy to be able to bring that experience directly to users, globally.

Firefox has been around a long time and Mozilla continually refines and updates their browser.  It does have an intuitive design and Mozilla claims it offers “the most powerful customization support of any mobile browser and leads the industry in pioneering privacy and security features like Do Not Track, Private Browsing and Guest Browsing.”  It also allows you to synchronize your browsing history across all of your devices – browsing history, open tabs, and even passwords.
Kobo Arc Tablets and the GIGABYTE GSmart Simba SX1 smartphones are two companies that decided they would pre-install and use Firefox as their default web browser.  Both companies believe that Mozilla’s Firefox will provide a “beautiful experience,” in the case of Kobo tablets, which are essentially an eReader.  The Kobo Arc tablets are now available at Kobo.com in the U.S. and Canada, with additional markets coming soon.
GIGABYTE believes that the Firefox browser “will bring an amazing Web experience” to its device users, as well as offer them the security, privacy, and personalization they want right out of the box.  The GSmart Simba SX1 will be available in Russia, Ukraine, EEU, Belarus, and Taiwan in November and will roll-out globally in December.
You can use the Google Play link at the bottom to take a quick look at the Firefox browser and even download it and give it a try…we have also included a short video that highlights its many features.  In September we did an article about a few problems Firefox was having with malware – Mozilla has since updated their Firefox browser, but whether these issues were fixed or not, we cannot be sure. Slate A woman’s trip to the Wildlife World Zoo, Aquarium, and Safari Park in Arizona was cut short when she was clawed by a captive jaguar (via CBS News ).
