Galaxy S10, S10 Plus, and S10e update hub: AT&T rolling out new night mode

Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus

Update: July 2, 2019 (4:33PM ET): AT&T is rolling out a new update for the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus packing  June’s Android security patches and an improved Night Mode (via XDA developers).

Samsung rolled out Night Mode to the S10 series earlier this year but has managed to improve its performance on Exynos chipset-based models. Now, AT&T’s update is thought to be the first to deliver these improvements to Snapdragon-based devices in the U.S.

Night Mode dramatically improves picture quality when shooting in low-light, and has been a popular fixture on 2019 flagships since arriving on the Google Pixel 3 series and Huawei P20 series last year. You can take a look at what it does for the Huawei P30 Pro and Google Pixel 3XL in our comparison at the link.

As well as improved security and better low-light snaps, the new S10 Plus build introduces a built-in QR scanner for Samsung’s dedicated camera app, making QR code scans an easier process.

The update is said to be rolling out now, bringing the S10 Plus up to build number G975USQU2ASF6. It may be going out for the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10e on AT&T too — they generally receive updates around the same time. If you have any of these devices, visit the software update page in your device settings to see if you can pull it.

Other U.S. carriers should be preparing to roll out a similar update to their Galaxy S10 series phones; we’ll let you know when we spot them. If you’ve received the update yourself, let us know what you think of the improved Night Mode in the comments.
