DisplayMate: Pixel 4 XL beats latest iPhone in display quality
- The Pixel 4 XL replaces the iPhone 11 Pro Max as DisplayMate’s Best Smartphone Display.
- The Pixel 4 XL earns the highest A+ rating DisplayMate has ever awarded.
- DisplayMate says the Pixel 4 XL’s display is “visually indistinguishable from perfect.”
Not too long ago, DisplayMate gave the iPhone 11 Pro Max its “Best Smartphone Display Award.” With today’s launch of the Pixel 4 XL, Google takes that award away from Apple. With its highest-ever A+ rating, DisplayMate has officially labeled Google’s newest flagship as the best smartphone display to date.
The Pixel 4 XL comes with a 6.3 inch 3,040 x 1,440 display. It has a 19:9 aspect ratio, which is 22% larger than the average 16:9 display.
Peaking at 90Hz, the display’s refresh rate is 50% higher than than the average smartphone. It offers much smoother scrolling, video playback, and UI animations. It even automatically adjusts between 90 and 60Hz to minimize battery consumption and optimize content quality.
The display is 10% brighter, significantly more color accurate, and more power-efficient than last year’s Pixel. DisplayMate says the Pixel 4 XL’s OLED display is “visually indistinguishable from perfect,” making it the obvious selection as the new best smartphone display.
