This could be the OnePlus 8 Pro

OnePlus seemingly closed out its 2019 flagship lineup with the launch of the OnePlus 7T Pro. You’d think we were done hearing about OnePlus phones for the year. Well, it looks like the rumor mill isn’t about to shut down anytime soon. Alleged OnePlus 8 Pro renders just surfaced courtesy of the popular leakster OnLeaks, in collaboration with 91Mobiles. The renders show what could be the firm’s flagship smartphone for the first half of 2020.

Renders of the OnePlus 8 were also previously revealed by the source and if these new images indeed represent the OnePlus 8 Pro, then the two 2020 ‘Flagship Killers’ don’t seem to have much of a design difference.

As you can see, the alleged OnePlus 8 Pro looks to have a punch-hole display, similar to the apparent OnePlus 8 we previously saw. The punch hole housing the single front camera sensor is located on the left edge of the screen. 91Mobiles claims that the phone will house a 6.65-inch panel as opposed to the 6.5-inch display on the OnePlus 8. A 90Hz refresh rate is a given since OnePlus already confirmed this would be the case for all its future smartphones.

There’s a new addition at the back of the OnePlus 8 Pro, or so it seems from the renders. The publication reports that the phone will house a 3D Time of Flight (ToF) sensor in addition to the vertically aligned triple camera setup. The 3D ToF sensor became quite popular this year and we’ve seen it on phones like the Huawei Mate 30 series, LG G8 ThinQ, Huawei P30 Pro, Galaxy S10 5G and more. The sensor is used to calculate distance and depth as well as help with 3D imaging and AR. This suggests that the OnePlus 8 Pro could use it for enhanced Portrait mode shots.

There’s an LED flash located right below the triple camera setup, under which you will also find the familiar OnePlus logo.

A USB-C port rests at the bottom edge of the OnePlus 8 Pro, accompanied by a speaker grille to its left. The entire package reportedly measures 165.3 x 74.4 x 8.8mm in size.

Although OnLeaks is known to be quite accurate with his leaks, we would still want to wait and see what pops up closer to the launch of the OnePlus 8 series. The design doesn’t seem too far a departure from what we’ve seen on the OnePlus 7T Pro, but we’re sure OnePlus has come tricks up its sleeve when it comes to features and specifications.
