Full Specs of the Next Generation Kindle Fire HD Tablets Leak Out – Make You Think Twice About buying that new Nexus 7

Image
Amazon has been making Kindle Fire’s for a couple of years now. Back in 2011 they introduced the original Kindle Fire for $199, which then led to Google’s Nexus 7 at $199 in 2012 and a ton of other 7-inch tablets hitting the $100-200 price point. Last year, Amazon decided to add even more tablets to their Kindle Fire line. They brought in some HD versions and larger versions as well. Not to mention the LTE version of the Kindle Fire HD. Now it looks like BGR has scored an exclusive on the spec sheets for their new Kindle Fires coming out this fall. Beginning with the 7-inch Kindle Fire HD it’ll be featuring a 1920×1200 resolution display like the Nexus 7. But it’ll be powered by the Snapdragon 800 processor. Prototypes are said to be clocked at 2GHz. The new 7-inch Kindle Fire HD will also feature 2GB of RAM, a front-facing camera, Wi-FI and cellular connectivity. We’re guessing LTE and HSPA+ depending on the carrier and region. It’ll ship with 16GB, 32GB and 64GB of internal storag

HTC Looking Towards Mid-Tier Phones, But Has Tough Competition

Image
If there’s one thing HTC is good at, it’s making mid-range devices. I have to say, they probably make the best mid-range phones out of all the manufacturers. Samsung’s mid-rangers are almost useless, the specs are really poor. LG was kind of the face of the mid-range. HTC hasn’t made many mid-range phones for the US. But over in Europe, their Desire line has been really popular. And even their One SV from last year was a great mid-range. Not sure of anyone else who puts a 720p display on a mid-range phone these days. The Taiwanese manufacturer said during their earnings call on Tuesday that they are planning new products for mid-range that are going to arrive either late Q3 or early Q4. “These series of mid-tier products will help us to regain market share and momentum,” said Peter Chou, the CEO of HTC. The company just recently announced the HTC One Mini, which is one of the better “mini” phones. HTC’s sales did rebound a bit last quarter, largely in thanks to the HTC One. Since the

New Chromecast App Can Share Anything From Your Gallery

Image
Last week, Google announced the Chromecast. Which it launched with limited apps, but we pretty much knew more functionality would be built for it rather quickly. Now, one of our favorite developers, Koush (the guy behind Helium backup, ROM Manager, and ClockworkMod Recovery) has created an app for Chromecast . He used the beta SDK to build an app that will allow a user to cast pictures, videos and more from their gallery on their device. Currently, Chromecast can only share things from YouTube, Netflix, Google Music, and Google Play Movies & TV. Along with some tabs in Chrome. The service is still beta but is looking very promising. We already learned that Vimeo, Redbox Instant and more are coming very soon with compatibility. But for now, you can cast anything in your gallery to your TV, and that itself is pretty awesome. Koush also mentions sharing tons of other options with the app. Like music and playlists, instead of requiring us to use Google Music only. He also promises a

Fresh Paint 8.1 beta available, sync your artwork across SkyDrive

Fresh Paint has been one of our favorite apps since it launched on Windows 8 . We were double stoked when it landed on Windows Phone last week , allowing us to take our poor drawing and painting skills anywhere. If you’re running the preview of Windows 8.1 and like Fresh Paint, you’ll want to check out this beta for Fresh Paint on 8.1. Details after the break.

Microsoft requests itself to be removed from Google searches due to copyright infringement

In an attempt to remove pirated material from Google , copyright holders will submit Digital Millennium Copyright Act requests to take down links to specific pages. Last week an odd request appeared from Microsoft , asking Google to take down their own pages. Microsoft claimed that they were copyrighting themselves – face palm.

Moto X Said to Use Nano-SIM Card Tray; Performance to be on Par with the Galaxy S4 and HTC One

Image
The wait for the Moto X announcement has been killing us. We are getting closer but there’s still two more days left. Which means two more days of rumors and leaks. So let’s get this one started. GSM Insider has obtained a few pictures of the Moto X with the Motorola Droid 3 . Which appears to confirm that the device will be using a nano-SIM card. The Moto X is also taller than the Motorola Droid 3, which we’d expect since it is a bigger display, it’s also thinner. Which given the fact that the Droid 3 has a full QWERTY keyboard, that’s not surprising at all. So it looks like the Moto X will be using a nano-SIM card which is smaller than a micro SIM card which we see in many today’s devices. Which means if you’re planning to pick up the Moto X you’ll need to either cut your SIM card or get a new one from your carrier. I believe the only devices that use a nano-SIM card are the new iPhones. But I’m not 100% certain on that one. We’ve also seen from Taylor Wimberly on Google+ tha
