Google Nexus 8 Stops by the Bluetooth SIG – Made by LG?

Image
We’ve heard a rumor that Google was partnering with ASUS to make a Nexus 8 tablet. Which I feel would sell very well. I, along with many others, don’t want a 10-inch tablet but think a 7-inch tablet is too small. Now it looks like a LG-V510 tablet has  passed through  the Bluetooth SIG. Also the listing date was October 25th, just a couple days ago. What’s interesting here is that the LG-V500 is the LG G Pad 8.3, so the LG-V510 could just be another variant of the G Pad 8.3. Perhaps an LTE version. Or it could be a Nexus 8 modelled after the LG G Pad 8.3, which would be fine with me. The specs for the Nexus 7 according to a concept device it has a 1920×1200 resolution display, along with a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor along with an Adreno 320 GPU. The tablet also has a 3MP rear-facing camera and a 2MP on the front, along with a 8GB internal storage for $199. Now that was also a concept device, so it’s more than likely not real. Samsung’s 3rd Quarter Earnings Set a New Record at $9.6 Billion

Image
Once again, Samsung has set another record when it disclosed its 2013 third quarter earnings call – operating  profits hit $9.6 billion  (10.2 million won).  However, this quarter’s profits did not come from the sales of its flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3, nor even from its tablet sales – they made it the old fashioned way, “they earned it!” This time it was through the sweat of their foundries making their CPU and memory chips and selling them to their competitors; and by selling cheaper Galaxy devices in emerging markets, as high-end phone sales are beginning to flatten out; and prices are surging for memory chips that doubled last years results. The demand for memory chips and processors is on the rise as more and more items are becoming “smart,” as in Smart TVs and gaming consoles.  With downloads of streaming video, such as YouTube and Netflix, continuing to grow, more consumers are doing away with cumbersome boxes and opting for Smart TV’s, with the “brai

Leaked 4.3 firmware arrives for Note 2 (N7100)

Image
If you own a Samsung note 2 (N7100) and you are the adventurous sort, then you will be interested to know that  Sammobile  have just announced that they have received the latest Android 4.3 firmware leak for your device from their sources. The news comes after yesterday’s leak of the 4.3 update schedule for the Note 2, S3 and multiple variants of the S4. The latest release is N7100XXUEMJ5, and is few builds newer than the previously leaked 4.3 software, one of which was only a personal backup of a very mixed custom rom which included paid apps. So, as usual, Sammobile have come up trumps. A word of caution, the N7100XXUEMJ5 firmware is still a pre-release Open-Asia firmware, and as such it must be expected to still contain a few bugs. Hopefully it will have solved some of the bugs that were present in the previous leaks, a particularly painful bug for me was the removal of my Google accounts every-time the phone rebooted, while others included being unable to access the greyed out APN

@Evleaks Leaks Out The Google LG Nexus 5 Press Shots

Image
Ready for another Nexus 5 press shot? Well  @evleaks  thinks that we haven’t seen enough already. First we saw the one from TELUS, then the one from the Play Store when Google “accidentally” posted the Nexus 5 in the store. Now we’ve got one from everyone’s favorite leaker, that’s Evleaks. This press shot looks just like all the other images we’ve seen in the past month or so. You can even see the new icons which we’ve seen in many KitKat leaks as well as the new app drawer, folder and even the transparent navbar and status bar (which I think look amazing). We already knew that the Nexus 5 announcement and release is right around the corner, but the fact that Evleaks has now leaked it means we are really close. He doesn’t generally leak things until the release or announcement is a couple of weeks away or less. Google’s been rumored to announce the Nexus 5, and KitKat on so many dates that it might be easier to count the days that it hasn’t been rumored to be announced on. We know it

Motorola Droid MAXX vs Motorola Droid Ultra

Image
Here we the clash of the Droids – The Droid Maxx and Droid Ultra. The newest devices from Motorola made exclusively for the Verizon Bionic lineup. While these models were released back in August, we thought it would an interesting comparison between the two and since they are very similar, except for the battery, it may be tough to pick a winner from this Motorola duo. Since they are both similar in specifications, let’s talk about both the Droid MAXX and Ultra together and then we will define what is different about each one. Both devices use last year’s processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro Dual-Core processor clocked at 1.7GHz. They are both packing 2GB of RAM, certainly up to par with other 2013 flagship phones. Neither the Droid MAXX nor Droid Ultra have room for expansion of memory as they lack a microSD card slot. The displays are only 1270×72  in a world of 1920×1080, and both are using the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean – I can only imagine with Verizon how long it will take the

HP Passes Two New Budget Tablets Through The FCC

Image
HP  is still in the Android tablet game. After recently announcing 4 tablets back in September, we’re seeing two more HP Slate tablets pass through the FCC. These popped up yesterday and are really nothing to get that excited about. The first tablet is the HP Slate 10 HD. It has a model number of  B94HHB17CM  and runs on a Marvell PXA986 processor. The Slate 10 HD has a 1280 x 800 resolution display. It’s an HD tablet, but it’s not 1080p. It looks like a budget 10-inch tablet running Android, but it has Beats Audio. Previous HP tablets have shipped with Beats as well. Not a huge deal, but sound quality should be at least decent on these tablets. The Slate 10 HD is expected to launch in November. The second tablet making its way through the FCC is the HP 10 1900. This could be a variation of the HP Slate 10 HD, or it could be a totally different tablet. It’s labeled as the  B94HHB15C . Our guess here is that the 1900 refers to wireless bands and that the Slate 10 HD and the HP 10 1900

Will Google Sell A 4G Nexus 4 Alongside The Nexus 5?

Image
We can’t wait for Google to unveil its new  Nexus  5 (I’m getting pretty impatient now, actually), but it may not be the end of the current Nexus 4. While the search giant hasn’t offered the device for a number of weeks, there a number of indications that it might be coming back — with 4G LTE onboard. I’ve been wondering why, when you look at the Nexus 4 on the  Google  Play store, it no longer says out of stock but “coming soon” instead. I assumed that maybe Google had done changed it to stop consumers from asking when it might be available again, or maybe to hide the impending Nexus 5 announcements. But then a new Nexus was certified by the Bluetooth SIG. The handset that received the certification was actually called the LG E960, Engadget reports, but that’s the codename for the Nexus 4, which of course is made by LG. But this model isn’t quite the same as the last one, because it has proper 4G LTE connectivity — something the original Nexus 4 didn’t have. Now it seems as though G
