Google Launchpad Devs Hint at October 15th Reveal for KitKat Android 4.4 and The Nexus 5

Android 4.4.Kit Kat 1

This is certainly the right time of year for a new Nexus and a new version of Android but, precisely when these new goodies are launching is something we don’t know. We’ve heard October 15th was the date a couple of times before now and now it seems that could well be the magic number. Google Launchpad is being held in Europe this week, which is essentially a way for startups and the like to rack Google’s brains when it comes to Silicon Valley. Google devs at the event have apparently been alluding to an October 15th date for both KitKat and the Nexus 5.
This is coming from Techmaniacs.gr and apparently, devs at the event were also saying that the price of the Nexus 5 won’t go beyond the €300 mark, which would translate to the $300 price tag that we loved about the Nexus 4 when it hit the Play Store. Speaking of which, it’s said that the new Nexus won’t be available to purchase on the same date that it’s announced, suggesting that the Nexus 5 might be available a week or so later.
All-in-all, this is another little tidbit that’s been heard on the grape-vine. With a new Nexus so close to launching, it’s no surprise that we’re hearing all these sorts of details and frankly, it would be nice if Google could announce the device sooner, rather than later. We’ve all got fingers crossed too, that the Play Store doesn’t struggle with orders like it did this time last year, making things mighty awkward for those looking to get their hands on the smartphone.
Key Lime Pie was the name for the next version of Android before Google developed more of a taste for chocolate and at the Google Launchpad events, Google gave attendees a couple of treats to munch on. That’s right, a Key Lime Pie and a KitKat.
