Rumor: Nexus 5 Releasing on Google Play October 31st, Hitting Canada on November 8th

Image
We already know just about everything about the Nexus 5, or at least we think we know everything about it already. We know the specs, pricing, we just need availability. And hopefully tonight’s rumor is real. So we can stop hype beasting the Nexus 5 and get it in our hands already. We’ve already seen many renders of the Nexus 5 floating around. Including one from Canadian carrier TELUS along with one from Google. The image above is the same image that was used when the Nexus 5 hit Google Play prematurely a couple of weeks ago. The rumor right now is that the Nexus 5 would be available on Google Play on October 31st. Which means we should see an announcement about Android 4.4 and the Nexus 5 sometime next week. Unless Google decides to just announce it through a press release again this year, which I really hope they don’t. As for our Canadian friends, the Nexus 5 will be heading up North on November 8th and according to  Mobile Syrup , it should be landing on Rogers, Bell, TELUS, Koodo

Is October 18th the New Announcement Date for Android 4.4 KitKat and the Nexus 5?

Image
There were rumors floating around that today would be the day that the Nexus 5, 10 and Android 4.4 KitKat would be announced by Google. With no press invites, I kinda figured it wouldn’t happen. And with only about 2 hours left in the day, it doesn’t look very likely. But there’s a new rumor. Yay, we love rumors, right? Today the  KitKat Google+ page  posted a status that said “Everybody Dance Now” and there’s a video that is 4 minutes and 40 seconds long so it looks like 4:40, as in Android 4.4. It’s a hit single o the same title made by the American dance group C+C Music Factory. The song was released on October 18th, 1990. So basically where everyone is going with this is October 18th, from the release date of that song, and the length of the song is 4:40. So October 18th is the announcement and 4:40 is Android 4.4. The only thing is, October 18th is a Friday. And Google doesn’t normally announce stuff on a Friday. Normally it’s a Tuesday or Wednesday. Then again, last year the Nexu

Google Launchpad Devs Hint at October 15th Reveal for KitKat Android 4.4 and The Nexus 5

This is certainly the right time of year for a new Nexus and a new version of Android but, precisely when these new goodies are launching is something we don’t know. We’ve heard October 15th was the date a couple of times before now and now it seems that could well be the magic number. Google Launchpad is being held in Europe this week, which is essentially a way for startups and the like to rack Google’s brains when it comes to Silicon Valley. Google devs at the event have apparently been alluding to an October 15th date for both KitKat and the Nexus 5. This is coming from  Techmaniacs.gr   and apparently, devs at the event were also saying that the price of the Nexus 5 won’t go beyond the €300 mark, which would translate to the $300 price tag that we loved about the Nexus 4 when it hit the Play Store. Speaking of which, it’s said that the new Nexus won’t be available to purchase on the same date that it’s announced, suggesting that the Nexus 5 might be available a week or so later. A

Rumor: Nexus 5 Price Increase, Release Date is end of October?

Another day, another rumor. This time it’s coming out of a source familiar with Google, which has told  TechRadar   that the much anticipated Nexus 5 is going to be announced and start shipping in the last week of October. The Nexus 5 will also be “half the price” of the iPhone 5s, which should make the Nexus 5 land around $446 US. Which is almost $100 more than the Nexus 4 was sold at. Of course that’s Euro’s to US dollar, so it could be a bit cheaper. This would put the Nexus 5 right in line with Google’s low-price, high-performance smartphone trend they have started with the Nexus line. The source was referring to UK shipping, which should mean we’ll see an international launch of the Nexus 5. Especially since we are already in October and it has yet to be announced. Then there’s the part about the rumor saying “match the iPhone 5s”, wait what? That leaves us wondering if Google is adding a fingerprint sensor, maybe 64GB of storage, maybe the same specs as the iPhone 5s? Who knows.

Nexus 5 Camera: ClearPixel, UltraPixel, MegaPixel?

Image
It seems like every year Google tells us the camera on the Nexus is better and it’s great. I almost think that they are lying to me. Now I haven’t owned the Nexus S or Nexus One. But I have owned the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 4. Both had some pretty bad camera’s. Now I won’t say they were unusable. But when you see cameras like the one on the Galaxy S4, or the LG G2, or the HTC One, it kinda makes you jealous that your precious, stock Android Nexus does not take great pictures like those devices. Now we’ve speculated the camera on the Nexus 5 already, and how it could be a 13MP camera with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) like on the LG G2. But we really don’t know for sure. All I know is, I want a better camera. There are all kinds of new camera technology out there. From Motorola there’s the ClearPixel. From HTC there’s the UltraPixel. And everyone else it’s just the Megapixel. Now the ClearPixel camera adds a white pixel in there so you can potentially get better pictures. However, fr

LG Nexus 5 3D Render Surfaces, Get A Virtual Hands On!

Image
Need to get your hands on the rumored LG Nexus 5, like right now? A new 3D render based on Nexus 5 rumors popped up on Reddit  this weekend, letting Nexus fans get a virtual hands-on with the device. The Nexus 5 is expected to be manufactured by LG, with the first pictures of the device showing up alongside the unveiling of Google’s KitKat statue from a few weeks ago. A few Googlers were pictured handling what we believe to be the Nexus 5, with FCC filings following shortly thereafter. While Google and LG have not mentioned anything official about the upcoming Nexus device, the  Nexus 5 is expected  to come packing a 5-inch display, Qi-wireless charging support, 7 band LTE and a Snapdragon 800 processor. It will undoubtedly be running on Google’s yet to be released Android 4.4  KitKat . The Nexus 5 is rumored to be announced on October 5th. Until then, check out the render below!
