Latest Nexus Pre-Orders Starting on November 3rd

We know a lot about the Nexus 5 already, we know what specs it’s going to come with and we know LG’s making it among other facts – we’ve even seen it in white! – but, one thing we still don’t know is just when we’re going to be able to buy it. We’ve been teased by the KitKat guys a number of times already and we’ve been hearing the end of October for a long time. In fact, today’s date, the 28th, is a date that was hinted at by the KitKat team. Now though, PhoneArena have been passed some new info from a tipster that seems to reveal the date for Pre-Orders on the Play Store.

In the above screenshot, you can just about make out that the Play Store is giving us a November 3rd date for when Pre-Orders start. We’ve been thinking for a long time that pre-orders would be starting before the actual sale of the device, given the troubles people had trying to purchase last year’s Nexus 4. There’s no price listed here though so, it looks like could still be up in the air but, we’ve already heard a number of different figures before so, it’s perhaps nice not to hear another different one.

The Play Store listing also seems to give away and confirm the specs that we all already knew about. The Snapdragon 800 is here, as is the 8 Megapixel camera and the 4.95-inch Full HD IPS display. The image used in the Play Store looks very much like the press renders that leaked out a little while ago and the dimensions listed make for interesting reading. At 131.9 x 68.2 x 7.25mm the device is a little smaller than the G2, which comes in at 38.5 x 70.9 x 8.9 mm but, the Nexus 5 is listed as being a little thicker and heavier. With the G2 coming in at just 143g and the Nexus 5 tipping the scales at 220g. So, maybe Google has thrown in an extra battery? Maybe that’s what makes up for all the added weight?
While we can’t say that this latest leak is for real, having pre-orders start before general sale seems like a good idea to us and the timeframe isn’t too far removed from what we’ve been hearing for weeks now. Factor in a rumored delay and this might just be the real deal. No matter what though, have your cards and Google Wallets at the ready, as the Nexus 5 is certainly imminent.
